Select Sires Inc. welcomes six interns into their summer internship program. Maggie Dean, Kelly Fortney, Megan Swaney, Lindsey Grimes, Nicole Hoff and Caitlin Patrick will be interning with North America's largest A.I. organization this summer.

Select Sires 2012 Summer Interns

"Both practical work experience within the industry and networking are extremely important in helping college students prepare for full-time employment upon graduation," says Dave Thorbahn, Select Sires president and C.E.O. "That's why Select Sires offers hands-on internship opportunities each year. These internships help introduce students to the industry side of agriculture, while they contribute to the day-to-day operation of the Select Sires federation."

Maggie Dean of Marion, Ohio is interning in the semen processing lab at Select Sires Inc. Dean is a sophomore in Animal Science at the University of Findlay. She was extremely active in 4-H activities growing up.

Kelly Fortney has been selected as a veterinary intern. Fortney is from New Washington, Ohio and is currently enrolled at the University of Findlay where she is double-majoring in Animal Science and Biology. She has had experience in 4-H, the Animal Science Barn at the University of Findlay and her home farm, Fortney stables. Megan Swaney has also been selected as a veterinary intern. Swaney is from Union County, Ohio and is a second year veterinary student at The Ohio State University. She has experience working in several mixed animal practices, and was particularly active in 4-H and FFA.

Lindsey Grimes of Hillsboro, Ohio is the 2012 beef department intern. this summer. Grimes is currently attending The Ohio State University where she is majoring in Animal Science and has a minor in Food Safety. She was very active in FFA when she was in high school and is currently active in the OSU Saddle and Sirloin Club.

Nicole Hoff of Windthorst, Texas is the 2012 dairy sire marketing summer intern. Hoff recently graduated from Texas A&M University where she had a major in Animal Science and a minor in Dairy Science. She was active in the TAMU Dairy Science Club, and was on the Texas A&M University Dairy Challenge Team.

Caitlin Patrick is the 2012 corporate communications intern. Born and raised in Woodbine, Md., Patrick grew up highly active in 4-H activities such as dairy judging and showing dairy cattle on a local, state and national level. Patrick recently graduated from Virginia Tech where she majored in Professional Writing and was active in the Dairy Club.
