Handy Hint: December 2014

Shield keeps stalls dry

panel protects stalls from getting water spilled in themWe had cows splashing water from the drinking fountain into the first two stalls of our freestall barn, and no one would lie in them. To stop this, we used two rubber mats from our old tie stall barn. We cut the mats and screwed them to the bar over the waterer letting them hang into the tank 6 inches. The cows no longer get the stalls wet.
Another good use for old rubber mats is as floor mats in a shop next to a workbench.
