KNG hosts open house to recognize Rockford employees' achievement

Earlier this year, the Kent Nutrition Group (KNG) manufacturing plant at Rockford, Illinois, was named 2015 "Feed Mill of the Year" by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and Feedstuffs. The company recognized its 11 employees for their overall excellence in feed manufacturing operations, quality and safety with an open house for dealers and KNG employees. During the open house, attendees toured the facility as well as enjoyed a barbeque luncheon and awards program honoring each member of the Rockford team.

"We are extremely proud of our Rockford team and their accomplishments and dedication to daily excellence that led to this national award," says John Thorpe, KNG president. "Tom Smolen, our plant manager, and his team are very deserving of this national recognition and celebration in honor of their achievement. We applaud their daily commitment to creating a quality product that our customers depend on to meet their animals' nutritional needs."

Producing quality animal nutrition products is a priority for all of our KNG facilities. "The Rockford team exemplifies our corporate philosophy of quality, service and trust," says Mike Gauss, KNG's vice president of operations. "This celebration of each team member is well-deserved and we greatly appreciate their daily efforts in creating a quality product and maintaining our facilities in ‘audit ready, all the time' condition."

Each of the Rockford plant team members was given a special individual award and a jacket for their part in earning this national award. Rockford team members include: Tom Smolen, plant manager; Kevin Dailey, production superintendent; Eric Cupp, quality assurance supervisor; Sam Jones, maintenance supervisor; Ashley Trail, customer service; Ben Jacobson, mixer operator and customer service; Lonnie Morrison, bag warehouse and dock operator; Keegan Myrvold, mixer operator; Mike Stonecipher, pellet mill operator; Rick Stonecipher, pellet mill operator; and Cody Siemers, bagging and loadout operator.
