VirtusJulie Barnett was named Northern California and Pacific Northwest sales manager, and Charles Nett was named Upper Midwest sales manager for Virtus Nutrition, a Central California-based dairy feed ingredient company specializing in fatty acid nutrition.

"Julie brings great dairy industry and business management experience to the position, while Charlie has years of sales experience working with dairy cow health, nutrition and reproduction," said Kevin Murphy, Global Technical Director for Virtus Nutrition. "Both will be outstanding representatives for Virtus Nutrition."

Barnett will work with dairy producers, nutritionists and large animal veterinarians in Northern California, Western Washington and Western Oregon. She also brings a different perspective to the Virtus sales team. Barnett is well aware of the challenges dairy producers face day-to-day from her years as the wife of a dairy manager actually dealing with situations on the farm, whether feed or employee related issues.

"Julie will focus on helping each unique producer meet their herd and management objectives by encouraging the adoption of nutritional support strategies to improve production potential, and therefore strengthen the producer's bottom line," said Renee Smith, marketing manager for Virtus Nutrition.

Barnett attended California Polytechnic State University, Cal Poly, majoring in agribusiness marketing. She has worked as an agricultural loan officer in the banking industry and handled the dairy records and finances for their personal dairy operation in Texas.

Since 2003, she has owned her own business Two B Enterprises which provides consulting services in marketing and customer relationship building. Julie is a 21-year member of California Cattlewomen, and handles their statewide website. She's a member of Kern County Cattlewomen, serving as vice president; and was honored as Cattlewoman of the Year in 2015.

Barnett is also part of the Dairy Girl Network as a volunteer; using social media to speak up in an effort to inform and educate social media participants on the positive things animal agriculture does. She posts to "Dairy Wife World" on social media and uses that opportunity to promote dairy products and share reality of the dairy business and animal agriculture with a wide range of consumers and dairy producers.

"It makes good economic sense for dairy producers to have the very best nutrition program possible for his herd. That's the bottom line of everything we do," Barnett said. "Virtus Nutrition is no smoke and mirrors. It's a science-based company, which uses excellent research, which has demonstrated consistent on-farm success."

Charles Nett, will be calling on dairy producers, nutritionists and cooperating veterinarians as the upper Midwest sales manager for Virtus Nutrition. He will cover the states of Wisconsin, Illinois and a portion of Minnesota.

"I'll strive to make Virtus Nutrition a household name on dairies in my territory," Nett said. "I grew up working on my family's small Wisconsin dairy milking 55 cows; feeding and caring for all 130 cows and heifers on the dairy, while helping on our 300-acre farm where we raise corn for silage, soybeans and alfalfa for the herd."


Nett's said his background will be helpful in connecting with dairy producers and herd nutritionists. He has worked as a dairy herd manager; worked for Genex Cooperative as a breeding program specialist; Philbro Animal Health Corporation as a dairy technical specialist, providing product training for nutritionists, and assisted nutritionists with identifying herd health challenges and provide solutions.

Nett earned his bachelor degree in animal science and agribusiness from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He minored in agronomy. His certifications and awards include: National Association of Animal Breeders, certified in artificial insemination; Center for Organizational Energy Inc., Professional Selling System; and Prince Agri Products, Crown Achievement Award for Top Sales Team 2015.

"With Virtus I want to raise awareness of the advanced technology and significantly grow the feed supplementation business in the Midwest.
