Gabrielle Domagala completed a thirteen-week summer internship serving Select Sire Power member-owners. With an internship program fitted to the interests of each intern, Select Sire Power provides a unique experience encouraging interns to discover and develop their passions. For Domagala, this meant expanding her knowledge of reproductive physiology and providing producer support. "I enjoy helping farmers meet their reproductive and genetic goals in the most efficient and cost effective ways," she explains.



Domagala traveled extensively throughout N.Y., Vt., Pa. and Ohio, troubleshooting reproductive challenges with Select Reproductive SolutionsTM (SRSTM) specialists and completing linear evaluations with Select Mating ServiceTM (SMSTM) coordinators. She references the most influential aspect of her internship as a three-day trip to Select Sires headquarters in Ohio for new employee orientation. "Meeting the leading men, women and bulls of Select Sires was inspirational. I learned so much about the company's history, foundation and future goals." Domagala also gained extensive experience providing A.I. technician support and serviced nearly 450 dairy cows and heifers in the western and northern N.Y. region.

A native of Boonville, N.Y., Domagala is the fourth generation to work on her family's 80-cow registered Holstein farm. She plans to continue her involvement in the farm, focusing on establishing genetic goals with her family and encouraging the use of the SMS program.
Domagala will graduate from SUNY Cobleskill in 2016 with a bachelor of technology in animal science with a focus in bovine reproduction. She previously earned her associates degree in agricultural business. Excited for her future after graduation, she says that a career in bovine reproduction and genetics is her ultimate goal, "My experience this summer was a perfect fit and I'm so excited to continue working in this industry." Domagala will resume work as a relief technician this fall.
