The Minnesota Milk Producers Association is announcing the 2017 recipients of its annual scholarship awards. Ten outstanding individuals from four schools are this year’s awardees. The recipients will be recognized at this year’s Minnesota Milk Dairy Conference & Expo on November 28-30. The convention will be held at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Welch Minn.

The 2017 recipients are:
  • Colten Carlson, of Pennock, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production, Ag Business and Spanish, son of Carl Carlson and Leah Kreps.
  • Luke Groos, of Howard Lake, attending South Dakota State University, studying Agriculture Science, son of Sean and Linda Groos.
  • Jessica Kerfled, of Melrose, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy and Animal Science, daughter of Tim and Carrie Kerfled.
  • Kirby Krogstad, of Eyota, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production and Agricultural Business, son of Dean and Lora Allen.
  • Claissa Lubben, of Edgerton, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production and Agricultural Business, daughter of Cal and Char Lubben.
  • Ashley Maus, of Freeport, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production and German, daughter of Darrel and Lisa Maus.
  • Tanner Morrison, of Peterson, attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying Agricultural Industries/Business and Animal Science, son of Jay and Barb Morrison.
  • Isabella Portner, of Sleepy Eye, attending Iowa State University, studying Dairy Science, daughter of Tom and Mary Portner.
  • Quinici Scherber, of Rogers, attending Univeristy of Wisconsin-River Falls, studying Dairy Science-Management, daughter of John and Staci Scherber.
  • Andrew Wilwerding, of Freeport, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production, son of James Wilwerding and Sarah Overby.

Minnesota Milk has awarded more than $73,000 in scholarships since 2006. Every year, money is raised during an auction in conjunction with the Minnesota Milk Dairy Conference and Expo. Scholarship applications are due each May.
