"We are very fortunate to have many dairy farm leaders who help in the progress and development of the Pennsylvania dairy industry,” said Dave Smith, executive director of the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association. “It is important to have the help of all our dairy stakeholders in identifying these leaders. The recognition of our leaders and their association within dairy will also enhance and promote the Pennsylvania dairy foods sector within the national dairy industry.”
Four industry awards are offered annually, with winners being recognized at the 2018 Pennsylvania Dairy Summit.
The four awards recognized through this program include:
1. Pennsylvania Distinguished Dairy Producer Award recognizes dairy producers (either individual or farm enterprise) who have demonstrated superior management capabilities within their own dairy business and provide outstanding leadership and service to the dairy industry.
2. Pennsylvania Distinguished Dairy Woman Award recognizes a dairy woman who has distinguished herself in her leadership and service to the dairy industry, both on the farm or to the broader industry.
3. Pennsylvania Dairy Service Award recognizes an individual in the industry who has distinguished him or herself in serving the greater interest of Pennsylvania’s dairy industry and its individual dairy farms.
4. Pennsylvania Dairy Innovator Award recognizes an individual or business entity that has provided tremendous innovation to progress Pennsylvania’s dairy industry toward a brighter future, either by advancing the marketplace or creating new opportunities for innovation on the dairy farm.
Individuals who are nominated will be notified with a request for information. Winning candidates will be notified in January 2018.
Qualified applicants stay in the nomination pool for three years after being submitted for consideration. Nominators will be given the opportunity to update the nomination each of the two years following their original submission. Once a candidate is honored as a winner in a particular category, they or individuals representing them are not eligible to win in any other category for two subsequent years.
All nominations must be received by December 1 to be considered for the current award year. Nominations must include the completed application form and one letter of support outlining why the candidate is qualified to receive the award.
Please contact Jayne Sebright, executive director, at 717- 346-0849 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or to submit a nomination application.
