Spring has finally sprung and summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time for Wisconsin cheesemakers, their associates, suppliers and guests to register for the annual Wisconsin Specialty Cheese Institute (WSCI) Golf Outing. Now in its 18th year, the Golf Outing takes place on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at a new venue for the WSCI —The Bull at Pinehurst Farms in picturesque Sheboygan Falls. Wisconsin’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, The Bull is ranked in the “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” by Golf Digest and includes more than 400 acres with scenic wetland, woodland and river features.

The Golf Outing begins at 12 p.m. with a shotgun start/scramble format. Various hole challenges, raffles and door prizes will add to the friendly competition and fun. The event concludes with a tailgate cookout and awards program, including presentation of the “Paul McShane Traveling Trophy” to the first-place team.

Cost per golfer is $150, which includes greens fees, golf cart, practice range balls, yardage guides, personalized bag tags, lunch and tailgate cookout. Non-golfers are welcome to attend and enjoy the cookout for $25 per person. There is no limit to the number of foursomes that companies or groups may register. Individuals are welcome to register, as well, and will be combined into available foursomes.

“After many years at University Ridge, we’re excited to be able to offer a new experience at The Bull. It’s an outstanding course and a beautiful setting for this event, which has become a highlight of the year for WSCI,” says Beth Crave, president of WSCI and customer service manager at Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese, Waterloo, Wis. “Even if you’re not a golfer, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some downtime with Wisconsin cheese industry colleagues and friends. We invite everyone – WSCI members and non-members, alike – to come out and join us.”

Companies interested in sponsoring the WSCI Golf Outing have several options: Corporate Sponsor ($2,500), which includes golf, lunch and dinner for four as well as prominent signage; Beverage Cart Sponsor ($400); Meal Sponsor ($300); and Hole Sponsor ($100). Door prize donations are also welcome. Contact WSCI Administrator Kathy Brown at info@wispecialtycheese.org for more information on sponsorship availability and benefits.

Registration deadline for the 2018 WSCI Golf Outing is June 1, 2018. Complete information, a printable registration form and access to a new, easy online registration portal can be found on the WSCI website at https://www.wispecialtycheese.org/templates/events-detail.tpl.php?WSCI-Golf-Outing-65.
