The National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) is pleased to announce that Dr. Sophie Eaglen has been appointed as the NAAB International Specialist. Dr. Eaglen will begin her duties in mid-September, 2018.
Dr. Eaglen will work closely with the NAAB President and the International Marketing Committee on international market development activities and trade servicing projects to provide direction to the association in these areas. She will also work closely with NAAB’s genetics programs and Certified Semen Services, Inc. to expand the NAAB and CSS brands into more global markets.
Prior to joining NAAB, Dr. Eaglen was employed by CRV in the Netherlands with multiple responsibilities that centered around new genetic and genomic innovations as well as promoting increased utilization of genomic testing at the farm level. In 2016 she moved to Madison and joined CRV USA with responsibilities for their Herd Optimizer and Sire Match programs along with sales support for key accounts. These experiences enable Dr. Eaglen to effectively communicate scientific principles to farmers, industry and breed associations.

After earning a BSc in Animal Husbandry from HAS Den Bosch in the Netherlands Dr. Eaglen earned her MSc in Animal Science from Wageningen University and her PhD in quantitative genetics from the University of Edinburgh, The Roslin Institute in the UK. She also completed Post-Doctoral Research at BOKU University in Austria along with a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in computational genetics from the Roslin Institute. Dr. Eaglen lives in Verona, WI with her husband Derek and will be based in the Madison, Wisconsin office.
