Steve Murty was recently named a Vita Plus forage products specialist. Based in central Iowa, Murty will provide on-farm forage support for staff and dairy producers in Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Iowa, Minnesota and eastern South Dakota. Murty will build upon his agronomy expertise to help producers capitalize on emerging forage production technologies and make the best forage-related decisions for their farms.

Murty attended Iowa State University and received his bachelor’s degree in animal science and a minor in agricultural systems technology. He has since spent his entire professional career within the agriculture industry, starting as a manager in the grain, agronomy, seed and retail departments for a local cooperative before transitioning to a sales role with a seed dealer. In this role, Murty focused on alfalfa seed and worked directly with farmers to find a seed that would fit their production goals. In addition, Murty is also a local 4-H club leader, a member of the Tama County Cattlemen, and an active member of his local church.
