Katie Dotterer-Pyle, dairy farmer from Union Bridge, Maryland, participated in a national news program in New York City, on Wednesday, June 5.

On the nation’s most-watched morning show, Dotterer-Pyle promoted the “Real Love Convoy,” the national traveling campaign and partnership with Undeniably Dairy and Feeding America to rally consumers across the country to help get milk and other nutritious foods to families who need it.

Unfortunately, one in six kids in the United States faces hunger, and the problem is further complicated in the summer months without the benefit of school meals. The campaign encourages donations of milk to fight childhood hunger by visiting www.giveagallon.com.

The convoy includes a food truck that will serve kids dairy snacks, and an interactive school bus outfitted with fun activities to show where dairy comes from and to teach good nutrition. The first stop was at Duke Ellington Elementary School in New York City.

Katie Dotterer-Pyle talks with New York City students about dairy farming as part of the Undeniably Dairy Real Love Convoy.

“Having the opportunity to share our dairy message on national television enabled us to shine a spotlight on what farmers do best and are most proud of - feeding people, especially those facing hunger,” said Dotterer-Pyle. “By partnering with Feeding America, we're not only spreading the goodness of dairy farming, but helping get nutritious meals to children throughout the summer, when they don't have access to school meals.”

Pitching to national and local media is part of the campaign to generate mass awareness of the dairy industry’s commitment to nourishing families and activating communities to help kids facing hunger.

Additional tour stops include Washington, D.C., Detroit, Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio, along with several smaller Real Love Convoy “pop-up” events in California, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Ohio and Oregon.
