Katelyn Allen joined the Hoard’s Dairyman team as the Publications Editor in August 2019. In this role, she will manage the development, editing, and marketing of the variety of resources offered through the Hoard’s Dairyman Bookstore. Books range from calf care and feeding guides to histories of the dairy industry and youth resources. In addition, Katelyn will lend her expertise to online content development in Hoard's Dairyman Intel.
Katelyn is a 2019 graduate of Virginia Tech, where she majored in dairy science and minored in communication. She served as an officer in the Dairy Club, Alpha Zeta fraternity, and Collegiate FFA groups on campus.
Additionally, Katelyn competed nationally with the Virginia Tech Dairy Judging and Dairy Challenge teams. She even got some video experience working with the Hokies’ sports broadcasting office. After graduation, she completed a communications internship with the Animal Agriculture Alliance, a non-profit, member-based organization in Arlington, Va.
Katelyn grew up on her family’s registered Holstein dairy, Glen-Toctin Farm, in Jefferson, Md., and was active in caring for the herd, 4-H, FFA, and Junior Holstein activities. Before joining Hoard’s, she did freelance dairy writing for regional publications.
