This course will begin with agronomic factors that influence forage quality and follow key strategies for harvest, preservation and feedout of quality feed. It will be valuable for decision makers and key employees in the cropping and feeding system on the farm.

Topics covered include: Fermentation and Silage Science, Forage Variety Selection & Quality Considerations, Forage Harvest Management, Silage Storage & Management, TMR Mixing Procedure & Maintenance and Feed out and Feed Bunk Management.

The value of online learning is that participants can guide their own experience on their own time, and should budget up to two hours per week for discussions, readings and assignments in MOODLE, a virtual classroom. Webinars provide an opportunity to meet weekly and ask questions in real-time. They are always recorded, so can be viewed after the live feed.

This course has been approved for a maximum of 2.1 CEUs from the Cornell School of Continuing Education. Upon completion you will receive a certificate notifying you of the CEUs awarded.
