Senator Johnson joined his colleagues in the Wisconsin congressional delegation in an urgent letter to the Secretary of Agriculture to get help for Wisconsin’s dairy farmers.

Wisconsin’s dairy industry was already in crisis, and now the coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating effect on supply chains for dairy products. We’ve heard of a growing number of entities making the heart wrenching decision to dispose of their milk product.

We’ve asked the USDA to help in three areas:

  • Incentives for Wisconsin cheese and dairy product purchases
  • Stabilize the supply chain with money and technical assistance
  • Prevent farm closures from coronavirus by re-opening the Dairy Margin Coverage program
