As discussions around Phase 4 of coronavirus relief continue, some businesses are still awaiting for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program from Phase 3 to re-open. The EIDL provides up to $10,000 in forgivable economic relief to small businesses that have endured hardship due to COVID-19. Like the Payroll Protection Program, it was replenished recently by congress after running out of initial funds. The most recent bill also made agriculture businesses eligible for EIDL, as it was not explicit in the first bill and it was unclear whether they were eligible to access the funds. This afternoon the EIDL program opened for new applicants, but at this time is only open to agricultural businesses.
