As part of their ongoing commitment to safety, Cargill is helping dairy farmers put safety practices into action by offering a new online tool to review important safety topics and areas on their dairies. Tomorrow, April 1, Cargill launches the Actionable Safety Review tool at CargillDairyDreams.com/LiveSafety.

The Actionable Safety Review prompts dairy farmers to think through various safety topics and allows them to record responses specific to their operation. It also gives additional recommendations and resources specific to farm safety. Every dairy is unique, from the number of cows and employees to the uses of different equipment and technology, and the operations’ safety protocols must also be unique to cater to each and every dairies’ demands. Upon completing their Actionable Safety Review, dairy farmers will receive an email of their responses in order to print the list of their farm’s actionable safety areas.

As a thank you for their time and commitment to working safely, Cargill will also be providing two high-visibility, reflective safety hats to dairy farmers who utilize the online tool during the month of April or while supplies last.

“At Cargill, our goal is to ensure every employee returns home safely to their loved ones each day. We also strive to make this happen on the dairies that we partner with, which is where the idea for an Actionable Safety Review originated from,” says Steve Halahan, Cargill Dairy Focus Consultant and Safety Advocate. “By outlining and reviewing safety protocols on your dairy, you make a commitment to focusing on safety first for your family and employees.”

Farmers are at very high risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries, and farming is one of the few industries in which family members (who often share the work and live on the farm) are also at risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries. Uniting as an industry to improve safety standards will help honor those who have been lost and show commitment to long-term safety.

“Safety is top of mind for dairy owners and operators, and so often they are looking for ideas on what they can do to enhance their safety management. That’s why we’re excited about our partnership with Cargill and the Actionable Safety Review. It covers a set of important on-farm safety topics with practical advice for addressing each one,” says Nicole Ayache, Senior Director, Sustainability Initiatives, The National Dairy FARM Program.

Cargill realizes that safety is always a top priority for dairy farms and is committed to helping dairy customers and partners take action. Start improving safety practices on your dairy by performing your own Actionable Safety Review at CargillDairyDreams.com/LiveSafety today.
