The Select Sires communications department was recognized with top honors at the 2021 Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA) Institute and annual communications contest. The team took home 11 awards in multiple categories, including the Best of Show honor in the Programs and Projects division.

Programs and Projects is a highly competitive division within the contest, covering a gambit of communications collateral from advertisements to videos and social media to campaign development. The department was awarded Best of Show in this division for their first-place submission of a short-term, integrated print and digital campaign to launch Select Sires Mobile, the cooperative’s latest sire search app.

Separate from the campaign recognition, the Select Sires app was awarded second place in the App category. This category recognizes app functionality, usability and overall design. This entry was a dual effort by Select Sires’ IT and communications departments.

“The creativity, dedication and resiliency of Select Sires’ communications department is unmatched,” said Leslie Maurice, director of communications for Select Sires Inc. “The events of 2020 brought challenges, changes and many new projects for our team. I’m impressed by their winnings from the CCA Communications Contest, and very proud of their constructive collaborations with other departments. They continue to produce excellent work and bring immense value to our cooperative and farmer-owners.”

Other winning entries in the Programs and Projects division include first place and honorable mention in the Advertisement category. These two print advertisements featured 14GU332 WATCH ME and 614JE1885 JADYN. Two video projects earned high honors in this division. Part of Your Team, a video highlighting teamwork among Select Sires employees and Yonkman Dairy, earned first place in the Promotional Video category. A separate video feature telling the story of Yonkman Dairy placed third in the Documentary Video category. In the Miscellaneous Print category the department earned second place for the Select Sires 2021 Dairy Breeding Calendar. In the Social Media Single Platform category, honorable mention was awarded to the Select Sires Jersey Facebook page.

In the Photography division, Jenny Thomas earned third place in the Smart Phone Photography category. For the Publications division, the team placed third in the Story or Article Design category with a submission titled Driving Jersey Genetics.

The CCA Communications Contest includes more than 50 communications and marketing categories. The contest is open to communicators from cooperatives throughout the nation and provides competitive opportunities to earn recognition and receive critiques from professional industry judges.
