It’s a record season for the Morrisville-Eaton girls varsity field hockey team and even more exciting - they get to play their next game at SUNY Morrisville on the black turf that is turning the nation’s heads!
SUNY Morrisville went viral after unveiling a completely black turf playing surface at Drake Field, the home of its football, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and its men’s and women’s lacrosse teams.
The black surface has brought some publicity to Morrisville since it was unveiled, including being highlighted by Sports Illustrated, and our varsity field hockey team gets to play their senior game there, under the lights, Monday night October 9 at 7 p.m. On top of that, the Morrisville-Eaton FFA will be handing out local farm fresh chocolate milk from Collins Creamery to the team! Yes. Collins Creamery CHOCOLATE Milk, as the team’s post-game recovery drink!!! “Although FFA is best known for the role it plays in agricultural education, the organization also emphasizes the importance of leadership, camaraderie and healthy habits.” (FFA Members Grow Through Team Sports - National FFA Organization)
The Morrisville-Eaton FFA has 6 members on the 10-1 winning field hockey team, and five of them are officers, Including the Class D leading goal scorer Molly Orth, captain and Madison County Dairy Ambassador Julianna Tomcho, Addison Shantal, Ella Griffin and Allyson McConville.
“What an honor it is for our M-ECS FFA chapter to have such hardworking, dedicated young ladies all working together, promoting leadership on and off the field for their team, school and FFA organization,” said Morrisville-Eaton Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor Rebecca Werbela
Congratulations on a great season M-ECS field hockey and cheers to chocolate milk, FFA, Collins Creamery, SUNY Morrisville and LEADERSHIP!
