The DeLaval TSR2 is now being produced in Missouri to enhance North American market support

DeLaval, a global leader in dairy farming technology, has moved the production of its teat spray robot TSR2 from Tumba, Sweden, to Kansas City, Missouri. By shifting TSR2 production to the U.S., DeLaval can better support North American dealers and customers with faster lead times and improved service.

"We’re excited about the opportunities this move brings to both our customers and our employees," said Jeff Fine, Vice President, Americas Supply Chain at DeLaval. "It’s a win-win, as it allows us to be closer to our market while also empowering our workforce with new skills and global interaction opportunities."

DeLaval has invested in the Kansas City facility to ensure the successful production of TSR2, including dedicated training for the TSR2 assembly team and installation of advanced testing equipment to maintain the highest product quality.

"This investment in our local operations is a testament to our commitment to North American dairy producers,” said Fernando Cuccioli, DeLaval’s Executive Vice President of Cluster Americas. “Producing the TSR2 in Kansas City allows us to respond swiftly to customer needs, especially as more farmers look to automation for labor and operational efficiencies."

He continued, “DeLaval is proud of its long history in the U.S., which reaches back before the turn of the 20th century. We will continue to invest in the right mix of solutions, services and support as the North American dairy industry prepares to produce and sell more milk domestically and abroad.”

More than 40 years ago, DeLaval invested in its presence in Kansas City with offices, warehousing and a light manufacturing facility. Today, the Kansas City campus also features a training center and research and development lab. DeLaval was an early pioneer of automation in dairy with the introduction of the DeLaval VMS™ robot more than two decades ago, and has continued to push the industry forward with robotic solutions for feed alleyways and rotary parlors.

The teat spray robot TSR2, which was named Overall Agriculture Robotics Solution of the Year by the 2024 AgTech Breakthrough Awards, automates the pre- and post-teat spray application in rotary milking operations. It helps make sustainable food production possible by supporting cow health, reducing labor needs, and improving cash flow for dairy farms. By utilizing DeLaval InSight™ technology on a robotic arm, TSR2 locates and sprays cows with up to 99% accuracy.

“The TSR2, when combined with DeLaval’s warranty, service and cost-effective chemical hygiene solutions, is a winning formula for supporting the milk quality ambitions of dairy producers,” concluded Cuccioli.
