With Pennsylvania dairy production and associated businesses contributing
$11.8 billion annually to the state’s economy, and those businesses creating more than 47,000
jobs, the Center for Dairy Excellence continues to offer a “Dairy Job Opportunities” tool for
dairy producers who have employment opportunities they are looking to fill on their
operations. The online resource allows dairy producers to submit their job openings to be
shared with the Center for Dairy Excellence’s network and digital channels.
“We developed this resource to help Pennsylvania dairy producers have an outlet for sharing
the jobs they have available on their farms. Once a job opportunity is submitted, we work to
share it with our network of dairy professionals, including young dairy professionals who might
be entering the workforce,” said Emily Barge, Communications and Marketing Manager at the
Center for Dairy Excellence. “Several individuals have connected with dairy farms and
discovered jobs that match their interests after first seeing them on the job page. We hope it
continues to be a valuable resource for producers across the state.”
When submitting a job opening, dairy producers must include the title of the position and
employment category, including full-time, part-time, hourly or internship opportunity. They
must also include the farm name, job description and responsibilities, employer’s contact
information, and a job application if available.
“The Center for Dairy Excellence job board helped us to find a qualified full-time employee for
our dairy farm, and we couldn't be more thrilled about it,” said Matt Keller of Legen-Dairy Farm,
LLC in York County, Pennsylvania. “What I liked about posting to this site is that unlike other job
sites, you know that a person who finds you on the Center’s job page is committed to the dairy
industry and passionate about what they do.”
The Center has received more than 80 submissions on the Dairy Job Opportunities page to date.
Through the Center’s Dairy Herd Manager Apprenticeship Program, individuals aged 18 years or
older can also find opportunities to be employed as apprentices on progressive dairy farms.
