AHV (Animal Health Vision), the global pioneer in quorum sensing inhibition (QSI) animal health solutions, proudly announces the U.S. launch of StopLac, a revolutionary product for managing the dry-off period in dairy cows. This innovative solution empowers producers to support udder health and milk quality while working against the problem of anti-microbial resistance.
Already trusted at over 1,600 progressive dairy farms, StopLac is now available to all U.S. producers seeking to improve animal welfare, labor efficiency, and dry period performance.
“StopLac represents everything AHV stands for: innovative science, practical impact, and a commitment to antibiotic stewardship,” said Jan de Rooy, CEO of AHV International. “Farms and animal health companies, alike, have long searched for a way to dry better. StopLac supports improved animal welfare, health and performance, all while reducing the need for antibiotics.”
Delivered in an efficient bolus form, StopLac reduces milk production at the moment of dry off, resulting in less stress during the dry-off period and supported health & performance in the next lactation. The product application occurs outside of the parlor, alleviating the operational and labor burdens of the traditional “dry-off day”.
“American producers are hungry for solutions that are both effective and forward-thinking,” said Kirk Vander Dussen, Managing Director for AHV North America. “StopLac helps farmers protect udder health at dry-off while taking the entire process out of the parlor. It’s a win-win for cows and crews on-farm.”
Early results from U.S. dairy herds using StopLac through AHV’s pilot program have shown reduced clinical mastitis at freshening, improved milk quality, and stronger starts in early lactation. The product is supported by AHV’s full dry cow protocol and on-farm service model, designed to make implementation seamless.
“StopLac's arrival is a proud moment here at AHV,” said Dr. Gertjan Streefland, DVM, Chief Science Officer at AHV. “We exist to better the lives of animals and StopLac gives cows the support they need at one of the most critical points in their year. The most successful lactation starts with stress-free dry-off.”
