Currently, Karen Anderson of Lester Prairie, Minn.; Katie George of Bridger, Mont.; Amanda Haag of Dane, Wis.; Lindsay Lisowe of Chilton, Wis.; and Zach Sobba of Richmond, Kan., are fulfilling Genex internship opportunities.

Anderson is interning within the cooperative's dairy genetics and global alliance development division. Her internship encompasses selecting cows to be pictured for promotional materials, assisting with GENESIS facility tours, and providing support for QUANTUM data collection and global alliance activities. Anderson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in animal science-dairy production.

George is completing her internship at Genex Hawkeye West, the Genex custom semen collection facility in Billings, Mont. The position enables her to participate in custom collection and semen processing procedures preparing semen for domestic and international marketing. George is currently attending Rocky Mountain College in Billings where she is studying biology and chemistry.

Haag serves as the sire production intern at Genex headquarters in Shawano, Wis. The position gives Haag work experience in the areas of bull care and semen production. Her duties includes feeding and observing the health status of sires; cleaning and bedding barns; clipping and grooming animals; assisting with health testing, sire transportation and sire picturing activities; and participating in sire collection activities. Haag is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with an animal science major and dairy emphasis.

Lisowe, a dairy science management major at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and Sobba, an animal science major at Kansas State University, are caring for the GENESIS Cooperative Herd through their internships. Both have previous farm or ranch experience contributing to their ability to feed and care for the high genetic merit cattle within the Genex herd. As part of their GENESIS internships, Lisowe and Sobba are also involved in cattle reproduction-related tasks and provide birthing assistance.
