EXCEDE® (ceftiofur crystalline free acid) Sterile Suspension is now available in a larger, 250 mL bottle. The new vial size gives dairy producers and veterinarians a more convenient size while still providing the same unquestionable performance they have come to count on when using EXCEDE.

Pfizer logo"Producers and veterinarians across the country already know they can count on EXCEDE because of its demonstrated efficacy and extended therapy," says Matt Nelson, marketing manager, cattle anti-infectives, Pfizer Animal Health. "And with the metritis treatment approval for EXCEDE earlier this year, the bigger label is now matched with a bigger bottle that will be more convenient on the dairy."

Earlier this year, EXCEDE was approved to treat acute postpartum metritis in just two doses, providing a more convenient and cost-effective option to other metritis treatments. EXCEDE also is approved to treat bovine respiratory disease (BRD) and foot rot, as well as control BRD in dairy heifers younger than 20 months of age. EXCEDE is backed by the Residue Free Guarantee™*, providing the peace of mind that when EXCEDE is used according to the label indications, producers and veterinarians won't have to worry about a violative ceftiofur residue in milk or meat.

"The small dose volume of EXCEDE, at 1.5 milliliters per hundredweight, already offers more doses per bottle than most other leading treatment options," Nelson says. "Now, producers will be able to treat more cattle with the larger 250 mL bottle, which takes up less space on the shelf and produces less waste."

EXCEDE is still available in 100 mL vials. To learn more about EXCEDE and the new size bottle, visit http://www.excede.com/dairy or contact your veterinarian or local Pfizer Animal Health representative.

Important Safety Information: As with all drugs, the use of EXCEDE is contraindicated in animals with known allergy to ceftiofur or to the ß-lactam group (penicillins and cephalosporins) of antimicrobials. Though safe in cattle when properly administered, inadvertent intra-arterial injection is possible and fatal. EXCEDE has a pre-slaughter withdrawal time of 13 days following the last dose in cattle. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.
