Merial Sponsors Industry Recognition in Its Commitment to Herd Health and Quality Dairy Products

The winners of the 2015 National Dairy Quality Awards (NDQA) represent the best in quality milk production, and Merial is proud to again sponsor this industry recognition.

Recipients of the 2015 NDQA Platinum Award are Brent, Nancy, Tyler and Ben Wilson of Carson City, Mich.; Jeremy Beebe of Whittemore, Mich.; Roger and Sandy Grade, David Grade and Travis and Janet Clark of Eldorado, Wis.; Michael Kleinhans of Kiel, Wis.; Gregg Trierweiler and Matthew Kielen of Westphalia, Mich.; and David and Karen VanderZanden of Casnovia, Mich.

Dairy industry professionals nominate producers for the award, and they are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their quality measures, systems for monitoring udder health, milking routines, protocols for detection and treatment of clinical and subclinical mastitis cases, and strategies for overall herd health and welfare. The NDQA is a partnership between the National Mastitis Council (NMC) and Hoard's Dairyman.

"Milk quality is top-of-mind for everyone in the dairy industry, and we're pleased to support producers that produce a high standard of milk, including lowering somatic cell counts," says Kristopher Scott, Director of Dairy Segment Marketing, Merial. "With real economic pressure and changes in the global dairy marketplace, an invigorated focus on milk quality can make a real difference for producers."

Merial is devoted to enhancing the health, well-being and performance of animals. Nutrition, health and animal comfort are three critical elements producers focus on each time a calf is born, a heifer is prepared for calving and lactation, or a cow is not quite producing like she should. Merial partners with producers to maximize productivity of every animal in the dairy operation.

"Our commitment to dairy producers goes beyond our innovative product portfolio. We believe an invigorated focus on milk quality can be a key component to help producers increase production, lower costs and increase profitability," Scott says. "When every cent counts, so does every ounce of quality. We are here to help, every step of the way."
