Center for Dairy Excellence

Mark your calendars now for the Center for Dairy Excellence's annual Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference to be held on Wednesday, September 28, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. at the Central Penn Conference Center, 600 Valley Road, Summerdale, PA, just outside of Harrisburg.

Now in its seventh year, this highly anticipated event provides critical information about dairy risk, financial, business and herd management, designed for dairy lenders and financial consultants to help their dairy clients increase profitability.

"This year's exceptional program will provide dairy business professionals a better understanding of the changing market dynamics that impact Pennsylvania's important dairy industry," said Alan Zepp, dairy risk management program manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence. "Our nationally-known speakers will bring up-to-date information on trends in the dairy industry, both nationally and globally, and provide specific insights for those who work directly with producers."

Two dynamic speakers will set the tone:

  • Jerry Dryer, Editor and Chief Market Analyst of the weekly newsletter The Dairy & Food Market Analyst, has been tracking and forecasting trends in dairy supply, demand and pricing for forty years. He will discuss Pennsylvania's opportunities and challenges in the global dairy foods marketplace.

  • Sam Miller, managing director of agriculture banking at BMO Harris Bank, has more than 32 years of experience in agricultural and agribusiness-related banking. He has provided guidance and perspective to clients through many economic cycles and writes a monthly "Agrivision" column for the Wisconsin Agriculturist magazine.

There will be plenty of opportunity for interacting with the speakers, and networking with peers. A more detailed agenda will be available in June.

Cost to attend the conference is $200 per person, including breakfast and lunch. Registration is discounted to $150 for representatives of the center's Allies for Advancement.

Space is limited, so register early. Registration deadline is September 22.
