Papillon Agricultural Company of Easton, Maryland has reintroduced an expanded line of Dairymen’s Edge feed products featuring improved ingredients for rumen enhancement and milk production in lactating dairy cows.
The Dairymen’s Edge line now features three options including Core, Classic and Pro which respectively, on average, result in 5 cents, 7 cents and 9 cents saved per cow per day. These are the first multi-component rumen enhancers in the industry, containing live yeast and bacterial cultures to promote the growth of healthy bacteria and enzyme production in the rumen for milk production efficiency.
“These formulas contain valuable solutions for improved effectiveness in the way dairy cows are able to absorb nutrients and produce milk,” said President David Briggs. “We’re responding to industry needs and I think producers will really notice a difference in their herd.”
Dr. Sarah Stocks works as Papillon’s Technical Services Manager, and recently had an article published in Progressive Dairyman highlighting the benefits of feeding with tailor-made prebiotics and probiotics. “Because prebiotics and probiotics are not one-size-fits-all solutions for the challenges faced on dairy farms, it is necessary to understand the difference between product types and modes of action…” Stocks wrote. She then went on to illustrate her claim and reinforce the advantage of using live yeasts and bacterium for increased feed efficiency and milk production.
The reformulation of the Dairyman’s Edge product line brings these popular products up to speed with Dr. Stocks’ prebiotic and probiotic philosophy, and allows Papillion to maintain its commitment to helping dairy farmers feed efficiently.
