Many producers perceive that feeding DDGS to lactating dairy cows will increase the amount of unsaturated fatty acids in the diet and eventually result in milk fat depression. As a result, they limit the amount of DDGS in the diet even though including greater amounts could reduce feed costs. Fortunately, ethanol biorefineries continue to improve oil extraction techniques which results in DDGS with less fat. This evolution in the ethanol industry creates opportunities for dairy producers to include greater concentrations of DDGS in dairy diets without risking milk fat depression. However, the industry still needs to learn more about this relationship between DDGS and milk fat depression in order to gain confidence in this strategy.

In an effort to provide additional information into this topic, POET Nutrition and Dakota Gold by POET proudly sponsor the webinar "DDGS and Milk Fat - Perception or Reality?". This webinar features Dr. Hugo Ramirez from Iowa State University. Dr. Ramirez will provide webinar attendees with key insights on management and formulation strategies to effectively feed DDGS without affecting milk fat production. Additionally, this webinar will include a presentation by Mr. Dave Peschong from POET who will discuss POET's strategies for ensuring nutritional consistency of Dakota Gold to their customers. Mr. Peschong will also provide a market update on factors affecting DDGS pricing and availability.
