Skylar Buell

Select Sires is excited to announce the hiring of Skylar Buell as communications specialist. A native of Temperance, Mich., Buell graduated from The Ohio State University in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communication and a minor in dairy science.

In her role, Buell is responsible for promoting the Accelerated Genetics sire lineup and the Herd Management Solutions product offering. She will work closely with communications team members and other departments to develop product promotions and educational collateral for field staff and customer-owners.

“Skylar is a skilled communicator and talented designer with fresh ideas, but her sincere passion for dairy cattle, the industry and Select Sires is her most valuable attribute,” said Leslie Maurice, director of communications at Select Sires. “Her understanding of the dairy industry, and the farmers we serve, adds immense value to her contributions in the communications department. As a past intern, Skylar consistently delivered quality work and I’m excited to welcome her to the team and for her future career at Select Sires.”

Buell joins Select Sires’ communications team with extensive work experience and valuable writing and design skills. From March 2019 through April 2020, she was Select Sires’ corporate communications intern and worked as the lead designer of the yearly breeding calendar, prepared press releases and created various advertising materials.

Buell has working experience with Dairy Agenda Today, American Jersey Cattle Association and Jersey Journal, as well as her family dairies, Buell’s Bovines and JVB Red Hot Jerseys. As an undergraduate, she was a member of the Ohio State Dairy Judging team and Buckeye Dairy Club. Throughout her youth, she was active in the Michigan Junior Holstein Association and Michigan Junior Jersey Cattle Club. Buell is a graduate of the Jersey Youth Academy and served as second alternate National Jersey Queen. She remains connected to her roots and continues her involvement in dairy cattle organizations and activities.
