Dr. Douglas Waterman was named Eastern Technical Sales Director for Virtus Nutrition, a California based feed ingredient company, specializing in fatty acid nutrition.
“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Waterman to the Virtus team,” explains Jim Hyer, General Manager of Virtus Nutrition. “He has experience in numerous areas of dairy management, specifically nutrition and technical services and will be a great asset to our company.”
Dr. Waterman just recently began his role with Virtus Nutrition in late September overseeing technical services and directing sales in the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast regions. Waterman, who has been working in the dairy nutrition and technical service industry for over 28 years, brings a strong educational background with him to Virtus with a B.S. degree from Cornell University in Animal Science and his M.Sc. degree and PhD from the University of Kentucky in Dairy Science and Management.
"Fatty acids are where amino acids were 15 years ago," said Waterman. "I'm excited to join Virtus Nutrition in the effort to make fatty acid balancing mainstream and help nutritionists and producers capture the performance gains from balancing these essential nutrients."
Previously, Dr. Waterman has worked in the dairy nutrition industry as Director of Nutrition, Research and Technical Services Manager, and Director of Dairy Technology Application. Along with his strong work background, Dr. Waterman is the coach for the New York state 4-H Dairy Judging Team and co-superintendent of the dairy judging contest with the North American International Livestock Exposition.
