Do you wish there was an easier way to view and understand your herd’s reproduction data? The new DairyComp and MyDC on PULSE feature, Reproduction Insights, available through VAS PULSE Platform, brings real-time insights to your fingertips for more accessible and precise reproduction management.

Taliah Danzinger, senior manager of dairy intelligence with VAS.

“Just as our approach to reproduction has evolved over time, we need to transform our approach to data analysis to reflect a changing industry,” says Taliah Danzinger, senior manager of dairy intelligence with VAS. “Reproduction Insights is a tool that provides easier interaction, understanding and accessibility to your dairy’s reproduction data.” Here’s how Reproduction Insights can help your dairy:

Monitor what matters

Reproduction Insights makes it easier to view the big picture for reproductive performance. It also allows for point-and-click accessibility of reproduction key performance indicators (KPIs), including conception rate, pregnancy risk, days in milk at first breeding, missed breedings, voluntary waiting period, service rate, services per conception, abortion rate and more.

In Reproduction Insights, you can view your herd’s conception rate using 10 different filters, such as by month, times bred, lactation group, technician and more.

“Reproduction Insights can help you understand your herd’s performance and identify opportunities,” says Danzinger. “It also helps to keep everyone involved in your herd’s reproduction management on the same page for profitable decision-making.”

User-friendly interaction

The main dashboard showcases KPIs in an easy-to-read overview format. You can then dive deeper into this data by selecting a specific KPI to view performance trends in graph and table formats. This data can be filtered by cows and heifers. In addition to viewing this data within the platform, you can export it as a CSV file.

“Reproduction Insights allows you to filter data and adjust to specific timelines to see your data in the best format for you,” says Danzinger. “It can present a broad picture of performance or be filtered down to specific timelines or parameters to provide feedback on protocols and herd management.”

Reproductive Insights also streamlines herd management through individual cow data. This allows you and your team to be more proactive and reduces the chance for individual cows to slip through the cracks.

Stay aware with customizable KPIs

Dairies can set up KPI thresholds to measure performance against expectations. Setting thresholds can help you focus on specific goals for your herd – such as voluntary waiting period (VWP). For example, if your VWP goal is 60 days and you are trending closer to 75 days, thresholds can alert you to a deviation from your protocol. Having a single source of truth for your dairy’s goals and expectations can guide the conversation about performance.

“Reproduction Insights lays the foundation for more features and insights to come,” explains Danzinger. “For 40 years, we’ve prioritized helping farmers make the best management decisions with reliable, accurate data – and providing more tools within the herd management systems they’re already using is one way we’ll continue doing that.”

Reproduction Insights will be available Oct. 1 through the VAS PULSE Platform for DairyComp and MyDC on PULSE users. To set up these insights for your dairy, visit the PULSE Platform or contact VAS customer support at 559-686-9496.
