The Iowa Dairy Nutrition Advisory Committee has presented Diane Duncan-Goldsmith its Midwest Dairy Council Service Award. Duncan-Goldsmith has been the director of food service for the Iowa City Community School District since 1987, and has been an advocate for the dairy industry in a number of ways. The award was presented during the Committee's spring meeting at the Oelwein School District.

Duncan-Goldsmith is a registered and licensed dietitian with a master's degree in food and nutrition from the University of Iowa, and served on the Iowa Dietetic Association executive board for two years. A former state president of School Nutrition Iowa, she served as the group's liaison for Iowans Fit for Life and Iowa Action for Healthy Kids. She is also the current chair-elect of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics School Nutrition Services practice group.



Midwest Dairy Association Her work with Midwest Dairy Council included working to reassure people about the safety and nutrition of all milk when petitioners in Iowa City raised questions. She also incorporated a "Know Your Producer" campaign into a presentation at an Iowa Dietetic Association meeting.

The Dairy Council Service Award is given annually to a person who is committed to dairy nutrition education.
