Dr. Owen Mickley was recently named Vita Plus dairy specialist. Serving central and eastern Ohio, Mickley will work to further develop relationships with dairy producers and dealer partners. His key responsibilities will include nutritional and management consultation to dairy producers and development of customized rations to meet producers' goals. Mickley will also work closely with other staff to bring a comprehensive team approach and technical expertise to the farm level to help producers become more profitable.

Mickley earned a bachelor's degree in animal sciences and his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from The Ohio State University. He previously worked as a staff veterinarian in New York, providing high quality animal care services. He provided routine veterinary services to production dairy herds and has a strong interest in supporting the management and productivity of the operations. Most recently, he served as a staff veterinarian in Ohio, providing services to clients while providing record analysis, creating treatment and reproductive protocols, improving milk quality, training employees, and utilizing herd performance monitoring programs, such as PC Dart and DC305 to dairy herds. He also took on key roles in team management meetings to resolve current client concerns, develop goals with solutions to achieve these objectives, monitor progress at strategic intervals, and construct a sustainable operational model.
