Corey Geiger
In June 1995, I joined Hoard's Dairyman as an editorial intern with the knowledge that the position would transition to a role as associate editor due to a pending staff departure. That timeline was expedited, and I became an associate editor by the August 10 issue. Remaining a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison through December 1995, I completed degrees in dairy science and agricultural economics. During the past 18 years, I have been promoted to senior associate editor, assistant managing editor and managing editor.

I am married to Krista Knigge and enjoy being connected to Ran-Rose Holsteins of Reedsville, Wis., where I still play an active role as part owner in our family farm with continuous ownership dating back to 1867. The 377-acre operation has a Holstein herd which has averaged 60,000 SCC for the past 16 years.

Hoard's Dairyman has a unique editorial office that looks like an open newsroom without any walls or partitions. With all editors in one room, it facilitates discussion and constant learning opportunities. Early in my career this provided countless occasions for positive mentoring experiences with the senior staff members. I think our interns have valued this opportunity.
