Jessica Schmitt joined Hoard’s Dairyman as our 33rd annual editorial intern. Schmitt grew up working on her family’s dairy farm near Fort Atkinson, Iowa, with her parents, Carl and Terry Schmitt, and her sister, Mariah. She graduated from Turkey Valley High School and is continuing her education at Iowa State University. She is triple majoring in dairy science, international agriculture, and agricultural and life sciences education with a communications option.
On campus, Schmitt is involved with the dairy science club and the Sigma Alpha agricultural sorority. She serves as an agricultural student ambassador, and she works for the university’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Services office. Her past internship experiences include a youth-focused position with Iowa State University Extension in Chickasaw County and a marketing role at Circle H Headquarters LLC in Dalhart, Texas.
