A chance to get your feet wet in ag journalism.

Celebrated Morgan’s last day with a Fort Atkinson favorite – Frostie Freeze ice cream! Pictured are Katelyn and Morgan.

As summer slowly fades away, we recently had to say our “see ya laters” to our 2024 editorial intern here at Hoard’s Dairyman, Morgan Oliveira. Every year, Hoard’s Dairyman hosts an intern to accompany our magazine efforts throughout the summer. Morgan came to us from Cal Poly and is originally from a dairy farm in California. I got a full education on how things work in the Golden State thanks to Morgan!

This took me back to my own intern days, meeting new people and getting my feet wet within the industry. It was such a fun time exploring career paths that I wanted to dip into. I quickly found out areas in agriculture that filled my cup and others that I had a distaste for. Having various internships ultimately helped me pave the way for the career path that I am on today.

As I have gotten to experience my first year of having an intern along for the ride here at Hoard’s, I can thoroughly say that I love the light and personality that they bring into the office. It’s always fun getting to know someone new in the workplace and discovering what makes them tick. It was especially fun to watch Morgan grow as a writer from her first day here and develop a love for Culver’s and cheese curds.

If you are interested in agriculture and have a knack for writing, the Hoard’s Dairyman editorial internship may be for you! The intern has the opportunity to write for our print magazine, including the World Dairy Expo issue, as well as contribute to our online publications. You will also conduct interviews, gather farm stories, and collect leads as you spend a portion of the time traveling.

If writing is your thing and you love agriculture, consider applying! The internship will be based out of our office in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Interested students should mail a current résumé that includes their college address, transcript, cover letter, and two written letters of recommendation by Friday, October 25, 2024, to:
