Can you farm with the best of ‘em? Then let's see it.
More than $22,000 in cash prizes is up for grabs in this year's World Forage Analysis Superbowl, the annual contest for forage growers nationwide whose results are announced each fall during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis. Entry fee is $25 and includes a detailed laboratory sample analysis. Entry deadline is August 18 for corn silage and September 7 for all other forages. Winners will be announced during Expo October 4 to 8.
This year's contest figures to be bigger than ever, thanks to increased sponsor participation that means more cash prizes for winners. Mycogen Seeds is the event's Platinum Sponsor, and additional financial support is provided by Barenbrug USA, Syngenta, Kent Nutrition Group, W-L Research, Bridon Cordage, Ag-Bag, Kemin Industries, and Croplan Genetics.
$1,500 cash awards for champions and additional awards to runners-up will be presented in seven categories - grass hay, dairy hay, dairy haylage, commercial baleage, commercial hay, standard corn silage, and brown midrib silage. Category winners will also compete for the $2,500 Grand Champion Award. In addition, Quality Counts hay/haylage and corn silage champions will be named and awarded $1,000 each.
