Construction on the New Holland Pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center is slated for completion by mid-September, approximately 100 days from today. What began as a mere idea three years ago has swiftly become reality since ground was broken on April 11.

"The Expo staff met with the county and the contractor on June 4," noted Scott Bentley, World Dairy Expo General Manager. "The project is currently on schedule, and we are optimistic it will stay that way. It is a big project with a lot of moving parts; the milestones are in place as of today."

As of June 3, most of the shell of Pavilion 2 had been erected, and ventilation fans were being put in place; the facade of Pavilion 1 was taking shape as well. Below is a glimpse of what we saw:

The two pavilions will have a footprint of 290,000 square feet and house 2,600 head of North America's elite dairy cattle. A 300- by 300-foot building, Pavilion 1 begins where Barns 1 through 3 used to reside. Pavilion 2, 300 by 600 feet, starts at Barns' 4 and 5 old locations and spans just beyond the warm-up arena. With the elimination of the tents, the project will also free up 500 parking spaces.
