Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo

And that's a wrap! The 2015 World Dairy Expo concluded on Saturday after a five-day run. In all, 72,427 attendees entered the gates and visited the trade show, walked through the barns and participated in the daily events at World Dairy Expo.

More than 800 exhibits were displayed in the trade show this year, and awards were given for the best booths. Winner in the small booth category was BioZyme Inc.; in the medium booth division, it was Hubbard Feeds; and for large booths, Polaris Industries.

It was year two for the New Holland Pavilions. The addition of a veterinary diagnostics lab, 150 more feet of wash rack space and convenient milk pickup locations further enhanced cattle exhibitors' World Dairy Expo experience.

In all, 2,275 dairy cows and heifers paraded across the colored shavings to compete in one of the eight dairy cattle shows. At the end of the day, the Holstein cow, Lovhill Goldwyn Katrysha, was named Supreme Champion. The Jersey, Musqic Iatola Martha-ET, was Reserve Supreme Champion. Both were owned by MilkSource Genetics, Kaukauna, Wis. MilkSource Genetics also exhibited the Grand Champion Red and White cow, making it the first year one farm had three cows in contention for Supreme Champion.

Beyond the trade show exhibits and cattle shows, visitors took in virtual farm tours, seminars, receptions and more. There's something for everyone at World Dairy Expo, and the Hoard's Dairyman editorial team was there to cover it all. Art Director Ryan Ebert captured some incredible images during the five-day event, and the editors wrote more than 30 blogs, recounting the cattle shows, judging contests and other happenings at World Dairy Expo.

If you missed any of the week's events, check out Hoard's at Expo to catch up. Our coverage of the show was brought to you by Bayer HealthCare Animal Health.

Next year marks a substantial milestone: the 50th anniversary of World Dairy Expo. We'll be there . . . and we hope to see you there, too, as we celebrate 50 years of World Dairy Expo from October 4 to 8, 2016.
