Handy Hint: February 25, 2016

milk or weaned PVC indicators

Keeping track of which calves get fed milk twice per day, once or not at all is handled rather easily for the calf feeders at Paint Creek Heifers in South Solon, Ohio. Calves with gray PVC pipes get fed milk twice a day, calves with black PVC pipes get fed once a day, and calves with no PVC pipes are weaned. The farm team led by Chris Stoughton reports this is a visual and quick way to communicate what volume of milk a calf receives if a weekend calf feeder or another substitute is handling the work.
