To keep our calves clean, dry, and warm on harsh winter days or dry during those rainy days, I made a storm door that keeps the wet out but lets the sun in. I took a clear 4-foot by 3-foot sheet of corrugated plastic paneling and framed it out.

To reinforce and strengthen the plastic sheet, I drilled holes in the side and bolted on plastic stripping. The door is held in place with two bungee cords running diagonally between the eye bolts on the calf hutch. The plastic sheeting lets in the sun on cold, sunny days, keeping the calves warm and dry overall and reducing bedding costs.
