National Dairy Month started out as National Milk Month in 1937 as a way to promote drinking milk. It was initially created to stabilize the dairy demand, but has now developed into an annual tradition that celebrates the contributions the dairy industry has made to the world. After the National Dairy Council stepped in to promote the cause, the name soon changed to "Dairy Month" in 1939 and we still celebrate it today!

The Central Plains Dairy Foundation (CPDF) believes the heart of the dairy industry is the people behind the product. This month, we’re focusing on the amazing events and industry education put out by our industry leaders.

Throughout each year, though, the Foundation awards over $50,000 to support the people behind the herd.

Today, we are asking that you join us in supporting the industry by donating to our Producer Challenge. This challenge “builds our farm” and builds a stronger dairy community across the central plains region by bringing producers closer to the Foundation and each other. We challenge you to donate today and share this with 3 other industry leaders to match your donation! All funds raised will be invested in the dairy industry and donors will be highlighted throughout our website and social media.

The Central Plains Dairy Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 organization committed to investing in proactive programming to support the dairy industry along the I-29 corridor in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota.
