A small amount of reshuffling of rankings occurred in the Holstein breed with a new number one genomic Net Merit (NM$) and Cheese Merit (CM$), Genosource Endurance-ET. He bumped out April’s top-ranking OCD Thorson Ripcord-ET and his paternal brother OCD Thorson Darth Vader-ET, who slipped into the number three and two spots, respectively, on both list rankings. A new sire moved into the top of the genomic Total Performance Index (TPI) ranking, Beyond Hi-Level-ET, coming in at +3539 TPI.
On the daughter-proven side, Genosource Captain-ET continues to dominate the rankings, only bested by his son, with SDG Cap Garza-ET ranking at the top of NM$, CM$, and TPI rankings this evaluation run. Captain and his clones Genosource Jack-ETN and Genosource John-ETN continued their dominant run, tying for second place in NM$ and CM$, and third in TPI. The only other contenders at the top of the proven list are SDG-PH Delux Dominance-ET, coming in at 1064 NM$ and 1088 CM$, and OCD Trooper Sheepster-ET, who landed second in the TPI list at +3458 TPI.
In Jerseys, full brothers JX ABS CF 8081 Clement {5}-ET JX ABS CF 8076 Clarity {5}-ET have reached the top of the genomic list of the Jersey Performance Index (JPI) at +208 and +203, respectively, and JX PEAK Deposit {5}-ET found the top spot in CM$. On the daughter proven lists, Cal-Mart Jammer-ET topped the JPI rankings, and Ahlem Gifted Geppetto {6}-ET was the top-ranked CM$ sire.
The Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB) included new traits in the August release which include the introduction of Milking Speed for Holsteins, calving traits base change for Holstein and Brown Swiss undergoing a phenotypic and genetic base change, and Residual Feed Intake (RFI) updates were put into place.
