It's your turn to write for the National Dairy Farm Magazine.

Aside from having top tier dairy programs, what do the University of Wisconsin- Madison, Iowa State, Cornell, Virginia Tech, Kansas State and the University of Minnesota have in common? Over the past 26 years, each of these universities has had students spend a summer in Fort Atkinson, Wis., serving as the Hoard's Dairyman Editorial Intern.

Internships provide students with an opportunity to explore a career field. For a three-month period, students immerse themselves in a specific sector of the industry. During this time, they "try on" a potential career and discover if that line of work is the right fit for them.

This past summer we had the pleasure of integrating Maggie Seiler's talents into our editorial mix. Seiler, a Valley Center, Kan., native, is now a senior at Kansas State, double majoring in agricultural communications along with animal sciences and industry.

Shortly before her time in Wisconsin came to a close, Seiler shared her thoughts on the internship, the responsibilities that come with the internship, and what it was like to cover the dairy industry in 18 states:

If you are interested in our internship, apply before October 17, 2014, for the summer of 2015. Students can mail a resume, grade transcript, cover letter, and three written letters of recommendation from references to Corey Geiger, Managing Editor, 28 Milwaukee Ave. West, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538. Remember, we're in the publishing business, so meet the application deadline!
