The Jersey cows and heifers came out in full force for the 2011 Central National Jersey show held on the World Dairy Expo grounds. Hank Van Exel of Lodi, California and associate judge Nathan Thomas of Cable, Ohio, were tasked with judging the 212 cows and 149 heifers that walked on the colored shavings. During their two days in the ring they looked at 361 of the top Jersey animals in the world.
Grand and Reserve Champion female honors went to a pair of four year olds. Taking home Grand Champion honor was Pine Haven Ssm Marmie owned by Nic, Jeni, Ben and Andy Sauder of Tremont, Illinois. Hillacres Morrae Maryland from Budjon Farms in Lomira, Wisconsin took Reserve Grand honors. This same pair were the Senior and Reserve Senior champions of the show. Honorable mention went to the cow hailing form Pleasant Plain, Ohio, Frederick 2783 Adventure S Lackey owned by H Radar, Gene Iager and Craig and Emily Walton.
The Junior Champion Female of the Junior Show, Sunset Canyon Governor Fp Belle, is owned by Valery Silva of Beaver, Oregon.
The Junior Champion heifer was Arethusa Tequila Velveteen from Litchfield, Connecticut. Taking reserve honors was E Jewels Iatola Sunrise owned by Gene Iager and Kevin Ehrhardt of Fulton, Maryland. The Intermediate champions were September Star Impuls owned by Buster Goff of Hobbs, New Mexico. Marlau Comerica Fabienne Lookout from Canton De Hatley, Quebec, Canada took reserve.
