For the third year in a row, Springhill Kojack Uno-ETV found herself in the center of the ring at the end of the International Guernsey Show. For the second year in a row, she received the Grand Champion handshake.
The winning Six-Year-Old and Older Cow owned by Melander, Robthom, and Smith-Crest of Watertown, Wis., was Reserve Grand Champion two years ago before taking the top spot last year. Judge Lynn Harbaugh of Marion, Wis., and his associate, Herby Lutz of Chester, S.C., thought she was in top form again this year.
Reserve Grand Champion went to the winning Senior Two-Year-Old and Intermediate Champion, Prairie Gem Jd Lincoln-ETV owned by Glamourview Farm of Walkersville, Md.
For honorable mention Grand Champion, she was followed by the winning Five-Year-Old and Reserve Senior Champion, Knapps Digligle Qualitys Queenie owned by Lauren Nelson and Richard Giddings of Brandon, Vt. Also in the ring for Grand Champion was the first Senior Three-Year-Old and Reserve Intermediate Champion, Knapps Apie Tesla-ETV exhibited by Emmett Vancy, Tre Wright, and Katie Oesterritter of Eminence, Ky.
Judge Harbaugh praised the quality of the Junior Show when selecting his Grand Champion, and the top two cows were both bred and owned. Hollow View Tank Tillie, the winning Four-Year-Old for Kolby Stoltzfus of East Earl, Pa., took home the Grand Champion banner. Reserve went to Hi Guern View Asias Africa, the 7-year-old top Production Cow for Alaina Dinderman of Orangeville, Ill.
Among the junior-owned young cows, Hickman Valleys S Bailey, the winning Junior Three-Year-Old, earned the Intermediate Champion banner for Brittany Taylor and Grace and Laylaa Schuler of New Glarus, Wis. Reserve champion went to Mill Bridge Jcpenney Sassafrass, a Senior Two-Year-Old exhibited by Sara Forman of Meridian, N.H.
Guernsey heifers were shown on Wednesday, and Judge Harbaugh found his favorite heifer in the Spring Yearling class. Gold N Pines Jd Butterbraid-ETV is owned by Suzanne Benoit, Michael Maier, and Jesse and Kylie Muse of Stitzer, Wis. Reserve went to the Fall Calf owned by Valley Gem and Four Winds of Cumberland, Wis., Four Winds Vg Channelcharisma-ETV.
Junior Champion of the Junior Show was awarded to RHG Villa Breezy Venus-ET, the winning open Winter Yearling leased by Allison Gartman of Sheboygan, Wis., from Dominic Pritzl. The reserve banner went to Knapps Rc Torpedo Bonus-ETV, the winning open Winter Calf, for the Ryan and Ferry kids from Fond du Lac, Wis.
Springhill Farms of Big Prairie, Ohio, took both Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor. Premier Sire went to Indian Acres American Pie.
Katelyn Allen joined the Hoard’s Dairyman team as the Publications Editor in August 2019 and is now an associate editor. Katelyn is a 2019 graduate of Virginia Tech, where she majored in dairy science and minored in communication. Katelyn grew up on her family’s registered Holstein dairy, Glen-Toctin Farm, in Jefferson, Md.
