Last night, DeLaval presented a donation of $15,000 to organizers of the Annual 4-H Dairy Conference in a ceremony at Crave Brothers Farm in Waterloo, WI. DeLaval has been a sponsor of the youth dairy conference for more than three decades, but with this donation, the company is strengthening its commitment to supporting future generations of dairy producers and professionals.

“DeLaval’s vision is to make sustainable food production possible. Part of that commitment is ensuring the success of tomorrow’s farmers,” says Fernando Cuccioli, Vice President of Market Area North America for DeLaval.

Conference organizers say they will use the donation to enhance next year’s conference by tapping into a deeper pool of speakers, bringing more delegates to the event, and awarding scholarships to youth committee members. Rel Seykora, 4-H Dairy Conference Secretary, adds “DeLaval’s generosity will allow us to continue strengthening our endowment fund, and in turn the conference's long-term sustainability.”

The 4-H mission is near and dear to the hearts of many DeLaval employees. “Many of our colleagues participated in local 4-H clubs, learning lifelong skills like how to be an effective communicator, take on responsibility, and act as a leader,” says Cuccioli. “The values and lessons taught by 4-H help prepare young people for successful careers in dairy, and we want to do our part to help the industry develop in a positive way.”

More than 170 youth from 27 U.S. states and 3 Canadian provinces attended the 2016 Annual 4-H Dairy Conference, Oct. 2-5. DeLaval was a gold-level sponsor of the event, which is held each year in Madison, Wis., during World Dairy Expo.

DeLaval’s extended support of the Annual 4-H Dairy Conference was the result of a promotion the company ran on select udder health solutions. A portion of the proceeds from August sales were used in the donation.
