It is not recommended to write on ear tags when the temperature is below freezing because the ink won’t set. When tagging in cold weather, I turn the heater in my truck to maximum. I stick the tag in the vent of my pickup truck and write on it there. It’s a fast and easy way to write out tags in the bitter cold.
