We are learning more and more all the time about how the amount of milk we feed a calf can affect future production. There are also some indications that how we feed calves can influence eating behavior as well, now and in the future.

According to Trevor DeVries, an associate professor at the University of Guelph, it goes beyond what a calf eats — how they eat it is important, too. In our May Hoard’s Dairyman webinar titled “Calf rearing affects lifetime eating behavior,” DeVries will discuss how feeding, housing, and management impacts learning and future eating patterns.

He will touch on milk feeding plus starter and forage consumption in preweaned calves. He’ll also cover housing strategies that impact feed intake and how to manage those postweaned calves.

The webinar takes place today, May 14, at noon Central time. There is still time to register. Simply visit hoards.com/webinars and get signed up.

Can’t join the webinar today? That’s not a problem, as the presentation will be archived for later viewing. This webinar, along with all of our past recordings, can be found at the same web address.

We hope you will join us for this educational opportunity, which is co-produced by Hoard’s Dairyman and the University of Illinois.
