I know everything is political now, and there is no patience for a farm bill policy discussion. However, providing a “safety net” program that pays an average of $1.28 per cwt. 49 percent of the time quite frankly is not a safety net, it is a direct hook up to the public trough.
That’s just one of the messages I gleaned from the July 9 Hoard¹s Dairyman Intel, “Farm bill could offer new options for dairy.”
This program will distort the market signals and create whole class of government-dependent dairy farmers. It is bad policy and it should not be done.
