Nearly every dairy herd is affected by lameness at some point, and for many, it is a persistent problem. Hoof problems don’t have to be accepted as a fact of dairy cow life, though.

During our June Hoard’s Dairyman webinar, Karl Burgi of the Dairyland Hoof Care Institute will present, “Supervise hoof health with a ‘No lameness tolerance policy.’” That webinar will take place today (Monday, June 11, 2018) at 12 p.m. Central time.

Lameness affects nearly one out of every four dairy cows worldwide, impacting animal welfare and causing economic losses. In his presentation, Burgi will address factors causing lameness, such as trimming errors, sole ulcers, white line lesions, and digital dermatitis. He will then share an action plan to be used on farms to stop lameness before it starts.

There is still time to register for today’s presentation. Simply visit hoards.com/webinars to sign up. If you can’t join the webinar today, it will be archived for later viewing. This webinar, along with all of our past recordings, can be found at the same web address.

These educational opportunities are co-produced by Hoard’s Dairyman and the University of Illinois. We hope you are able to attend!
